OverviewLook to Backcountry Montana Adventures to book your next outdoor adventure. We offer guided hunting trips for both archery and rifle on private and public lands in Montana. We invite you to explore our hunts.
Private & Public Land Elk Hunts
Backcountry Montana Adventures specializes in fair chase archery and rifle elk hunts. We are glad to be able to work with private landowners surround the public lands we guide to offer our clients quality opportunity and incredible scenery. The public lands we guide in Southwest Montana have known large elk numbers as well as a good bull to cow ratio.
Private Land Whitetail Hunts
Montana is known by some as the whitetail mecca of the West. Backcountry Montana Adventures shares this experience on a private land lease on prime river bottom habitat along the Beaverhead River. With just over 800-acres the property borders a 330-acre walk-in, day-use fishing access site that acts as a larger sanctuary for the local deer to move between feeding, water and mature in a low-pressure environment.
Join us in pursuit of the majestic and powerful mountain lion. With seasons starting in early-December and running until mid-April the adventure is not for the faint of heart. We guide clients during this time of the year for the advantage of snow cover to "cut tracks" and because we can use our well-trained dog teams to aid in tracking the elusive cat.
Drop camps are an alternative for the experienced hunter who wants to get away from the crowds to access elk country and have a ready camp so they can focus on the hunt. They are less than half the price of a fully guided hunt and they allow you to run the camp the way you already know how, without someone telling you when and how to hunt.
Your hunting opportunities will be enhanced by the experienced team of professional guides working with us. All of us having 15 plus years of experience hunting the mountains of Southwest Montana and are excited to share our love for the land and the beauty that inhabits it.
We prepare an incredible menu for hunting season and a cook to prepare breakfast and dinner each day. Lunch is made to go each morning from a wide assortment of options of lunch meats, fruits, vegetables, home cooked cookies and different snacks. Losing weight is not on our menu!
We use the private land as home base with several small cabins and a main cook house. Camps are equip with indoor/outdoor restroom and showers. The cook house comes equipped with the standard comforts of a house with full bathrooms, kitchen, laundry and common areas. Our individual cabins offer space and privacy.
Most archery hunts are ran from wall tent camps which allows us to get higher into the mountains where the elk are in rut during the earlier archery season.

Sporting Dog or Service Animal Policy
Because of our deep respect for the animals, we have decided to join with the many other outfitters in adopting a first blood policy.
If a hunter shoots at and draws blood from an animal, the hunt for that particular species is considered complete even if the hunter does not collect the animal. Of course, we will do everything we can to help the hunter collect the animal. We adopted this policy largely to discourage irresponsible, low-percentage shots on animals. Please enjoy your hunt and take responsible shots and practice, practice, practice.
